“When art presents us with something that in so called reality would be substantially more painful, or more beautiful, more appealing, more direct, and therefore more real experience, a gap appears. This surfaces as an ontological reconciliation between the two” Dorethea Strauss “Stories exist to define the parts of life that defy description. They set out to externalise, to paint a picture of the hidden. It’s in this fabricated, spirit-based landscape of storytelling where nothing is quite what it seems, that I consider in my new work. By playing with the line between desire and reality I’m presenting a point of view. A fabricated, made up construction of intimate experiences and personalised landscapes that are trapped between thought and reality”. Matt Palmer November 06
